Davis believes in the value and need for a strong, vibrant and profitable family farmer and rancher based agriculture that drives our rural economy. She believes in the need for fair and competitive markets and strong enforcement of anti-trust legislation. Davis supports building new, profitable, agriculture based renewable energy markets that grow the rural economy, keeps farms and ranchers in business and brings our kids back to our rural communities.
Budget
Davis is a fiscal conservative who promotes a balanced federal budget and common sense pay-as-you-go rules.
Economic Development
Davis understands that strong and diversified production based agriculture is the key to building sustainable rural economic development. Accessible and affordable broadband is also vital to relocating small businesses and rural entrepreneurs into our communities. Davis believes that small business and small manufacturing are necessary to business development in rural communities. She agrees that any farm legislation needs to enhance and cost-share rural infrastructure for our communities to expand economic development, quality of life and basic services.
Education
With her background as a Migrant Head Start educator, Davis recognizes the importance of early education and youth outreach. She supports measures addressing the soaring price of college tuition and supports removing obstacles that make it harder for qualified students to afford college.
Energy and Oil
Davis supports a diversified, 100% domestic energy policy that includes support for community based wind energy, increased use of oilseed based fuels, biomass and ethanol, well regulated nuclear power and exploration of domestic oil and gas. Davis recognizes the vast potential of transforming Nebraska into an energy exporter.
Environment
Davis understands that sound environmental policies begins with sound resource management of our soil and water resources. Conservation is best achieved by education, economic incentives and voluntary landowner participation.
Foreign Policy
Davis values the role our country plays as a moral authority and superpower. From her time abroad in over sixty countries, Davis sees international collaboration as a cornerstone of effective domestic defense. In a world of uncertainty, strengthening ties with allies while maintaining autonomy is pivotal.
Health Care
Davis supports current efforts to bring affordable coverage to middle class Americans. She is open to a government-sponsored public option or cooperative that would compete with the private sector without undermining it.
Immigration
Immigration affects our country in many ways: re-uniting families, humanitarian resettlements, and border safety. Davis has worked to assure the integrity of our borders while maintaining a welcoming presence for new Americans.
Sanctity of Life
Rebekah Davis is pro-life. She respects the sanctity of life from conception to natural death.
Social Security
Davis supports preserving Social Security. She believes that a comprehensive solution to its long-term financial challenges is a necessity. She supports protecting Social Security COLAs.
Sportsman’s Rights
Davis supports upholding the Second Amendment and opposes further restrictions on gun ownership. She supports the right of citizens to carry firearms for personal protection and recreation.
Taxes
Davis supports statutory pay-as-you-go rules, which would mandate that any new spending or tax cuts be offset so as to be deficit neutral and keep the budget in balance.
Trade
Davis supports fair and free trade that allows our domestic enterprises to be competitive abroad while keeping quality jobs at home.
Veterans
Davis supports any legislation or causes improving benefits for veterans such as access to health care, education benefits and services for the disabled. She supports the Disabled Veterans Adaptive Housing Improvement Act, the Services to Prevent Veterans Homelessness Act, and the Veterans’ Benefits Improvement Act.
The Wars
Davis supports efforts to shift troops to counter-terrorist operations, the protection of the U.S. military and civilians, and the continued training and equipping of Iraqi security forces. Davis believes the surge was a success and supports similar efforts in Afghanistan.
