Growing up as a native of Alliance, my family instilled in me the importance of leadership in community. I was brought up with core values that are typical of Nebraskans: putting in a hard day's work, living life with honesty and integrity, and using common sense to guide our political beliefs.
The partisan politics that divide our country and harm hard working, Nebraskan families have motivated me to make a difference and run for Congress. Since deciding to run I have spoken with thousands of my fellow Nebraskans during my listening tour about the issues that weigh on all our minds. We all share a concern for rural economic development, reliable and diversified energy sources, the burdening and rising cost of living and security for Americans within our borders and abroad. My background as an educator, embassy liaison and hospital chaplain gives me unique insight into our common goals and aspirations and will enable me to bring a distinct and much needed voice to the halls of Congress.
I can say with confidence that support for my campaign for Congress has grown exponentially over the past eight months. In parades across our state this summer, I have walked with Democrats ranging from 2nd grader Delia Alondra to 82-year-old Frank; volunteers whose enthusiasm propels our campaign forward. With over 75 speaking engagements, canvassing and calling in over 30 counties, you have been part of my listening tour and I have heard your concerns. My core belief is that a representative, by definition, should truly represent her constituents. Listening to your perspectives has shaped the platforms now included on my site.
Thanks for your continued support. Together, we make a difference.
